Metadata is data about describing and defining data. It is essential for organizations to understand and users to use when there can be thousands if not hundreds of thousands of documents handled by an organization. During this session, attendees will discuss the default metadata that is available with Foxit, and how to alter some of those defaults, and then add new, custom metadata content. Attendees will discuss how this metadata can be used to search for files, store files, display files in SharePoint, and perform records management and archival activities on the metdata fields. To render a scanned PDF to searchable and editable text authors must be able to perform OCR on these documents. Foxit allows them to accomplish this is a very easy to manage process. Attendees will discuss why this is so important as well as some of the pitfalls to performing this function. Foxit allows authors to review the size of any given file and perform a variety of processes against the file to reduce the file size. The optimization process will be seen by the attendees, as well as the advanced methods using both the BiCubic downsampling tools and the Preflight tools. When sending a Foxit PDF document to a commercial printer, the printer may require specific information to be contained within the document so that colour are produced appropriately during printing. Foxit, through it’s various tool supports adjusting colours and colours spaces (CMYK, RGB). Attendees will also review how to view and modify image colours to meet the corporate standards. There are times when an author does not want to send/use the default PDF format for his or her file. Foxit supports exporting documents or saving documents to a variety of different formats. Attendees will work with the following formats in their hands on activities. As attendees export/save as to different format, each format will be discussed to it’s benefits/disadvantages. Adding scripts to PDF documents is not new. It is often done to issue users of the document, instructions on how to use the document, or attached to buttons for users to click and submit document/form. This session will not teach users how to create a Java Script, but rather on how to ‘attach’ an existing script to the PDF file.
